I'm reading part 4 of The Mountains. On page 360, it has a striking drawing of a young boy named Job. I have been unable to find a single reference in the text to this kid. Can you help?
Boy, you do come across the like a public radio person: “This is free, but if you were a decent human being, you’d pony up.”
Guilt is a powerful motivator on anyone raised Catholic. (This is odd, because Protestants talk FAR more about money.)
Anyhow, maybe I’ll have to open up my wallet. Are there reprints of his work available? I came late to the game, and am not sufficiently steeped in applejack.
RE: Reprints - Porte's Virginia Illustrated collection of Harper's articles are the only ones made into book form. His other work is scattered throughout different issues of Harper's Magazine and elsewhere. Might be one reason why he's not well known.
Stelio have spots for Ice Mountain? Sign me up.
Okay. You're penciled in. Be looking for an email from me about when and where to meet on May 21st.

Hi Jim - Right now, I have no idea. When I get a chance I'll reread part 4.
Interesting stuff Giles. I'm looking forward to a good summer.
So am I!

Yep, that pitch came straight out of the public radio playbook - no doubt about that. I feel like my whole career has led up to this 😃.
