Go to Www.grandlakestreamguides.com or for tips on how to catch something substantial on a Flyrod or find that Brook Trout or a nice landlocked salmon or Bass, email jrmabee@roadrunner.com.If you get on the phone with him, he'll talk to you about it for an hour and a half or so. Registered Maine Guides like to talk about fish . He is President of the Grand Lake Stream Guides Association so it is a requirement of holding the office.

My son Geoff yes the Oregon public radio guy spent a year in Westernport MD. We explored Deep Creek. And Swallow Falls and other hiking places. Nice country.

Used to fish the Savage a couple times a year, but haven't in a decade. While it's a gorgeous setting and a fine fishery, I've always found it to be, not for the faint of heart. Monroe Run, a tributary of the Savage that comes in at the head of Savage River Resivour in Big Run State Park, might afford you a better opportunity at catching a Brook Trout. Oh, and don't forget your Maryland license.
